Re: July Chalet
Kyon let's sit down and discuss this next Sat over dinner.
Makio, Aloha Loyang is expensive. Unless you've got a lot of people going, otherwise we'll have to fork out a lot more than Costa Sands, esp if it includes BBQ. If you wan space, perhaps we can get the double-storey chalets.

Re: July Chalet
True, and the chalet gives special rates for civil servants too. And I'm a civil servant, if you know what I'm working as now. So most likely I will get a special discount if I were to do the booking. See what's the final cost first before booking.

Re: July Chalet
Chalet rates.
Okayyy guys, listen up. I managed to find out the price of Aloha Loyang on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July. And since these three days falls on a weekend, they're considered peak period, so the price would be slightly higher than normal days. Still, its going to be much cheaper on these days compared to member of public rates on a normal day. So I'm going to list out the chalet types that you guys may prefer, depending on the number of people attending.
Prices in blue are normal member of public rates while prices in red are special rates!
Garden Terrace
- 2 air-conditioned bedrooms with 6 beds (2 single and 2 double-deck), wardrobes, dressers, bedside tables & wall fan, 2 toilets/bathrooms with shower heater
- Max 20 persons
- $200 ($75) per night
Garden Bungalows
- 4 bedrooms, 2 queen size beds, 4 single beds, 4 bedrooms with attached toilet cum bathroom, 1 common toilet cum bathroom
- Max 40 persons
- $420 ($140) per night
Pool Terrace
- 2 storeys, 4 bedrooms, 2 queen beds and 4 single beds, 4 attached bathroom cum toilet, 1 common toilet & bathroom
- Near to swimming pool and common facilities
- Max 40 persons
- $450 ($170) per night
Sea View Bungalows
- Same as Garden Bungalows
- $420 ($140) per night
Sea View Terrace
- Same as Pool Terrace
- $450 ($170) per night
See what you guys think of it. The good thing about Aloha Loyang is that it is more spacious, thus more room for any of you cosplayers to store your stuffs too. Anyone got other places to recommend, feel free to post too^^
Kyon, what do you think? XDD

Re: July Chalet
I say the cheaper the better. Just take the Garden Terrace lor. Lydat 2 nites divide by say, 20 ppl, one person only $7.50. Plus food, we can keep the cost at >$20. The rest too ex liao... Just room itself one person already over $10. And that is IF we can get 20 ppl.
Btw Makio, can u check whether u can get special rates for Aranda Country Club? Its even more spacious than Aloha and the room is super clean and nice-looking. Like a small apartment, but its normally $200-$300 per night. Anyone have friends/relatives who are members at ACC?

Agreed. Worst come to worst we guys just sleep on the floor...although i think we might be able to not sleep for quite a few days XD

Re: July Chalet
We shall see how many people will turn up for this chalet. So should we make it two days or 3 days since Cosfest is on the 3rd and you guys will surely want to put your stuffs on the eve of the event. The only time we can book out for all chalets is between 8am - 10am tho'; booking in time is from 3pm - 5pm.
As for Aranda Country Club, their chalets are more of like executive suites; more to those people who could probably afford such an expensive place. I agree that they have more cleaner and more spacious places, but OMG look at the skyrocketing prices.
Even an Aranda Country Club member's price for a suite on a peak period is way much higher than what I showed for Aloha Loyang; and at most I only have is an NTUC card, other than my civil service card which entitles me to the prices at Aloha Loyang indicated in red.
Or worse come to worse, the small and crampy Costa Sands Resorts?

Re: July Chalet
Nope, you\'re wrong. Ours is confirmed on a PEAK period, I already mentioned that in my earlier post if you didn\'t notice it. 2 or 3 nights, see what the others have to say, since the chalet is to coincide with Cosfest, which is obviously on a weekend, thus it\'s peak period. And let\'s see which chalet everyone shall decide on. xDD
Kyon, once again, what do you think? XDD

Re: July Chalet
I'm fine with the cheapest one. But we need to know the number of people going. Even the smallest looks damn big according to the description like the number of beds etc...
Makio, are the pictures of the places listed on your list? Also, stuffs like BBQ pits, mahjong tables and such, are they included?
*Well, some huge ones actually had their BBQ pit included in the area and with mahjong tables*

Re: July Chalet
No pictures for now, but I've walked the ground for quite a number of times before, so all I can say is that the bungalows are really huge, and the terraces are really wooohooo~~ more than enough room to run around, play catching and place all your props there for the 2 day event. As for mahjong table, need to ask again first XDD
3 more months to go, let's try to confirm the number of people going first asap, like maybe by 1st april? So that early booking can be done to avoid last-min bookings and there are no chalets available. There's lots of ample time to save up from now till the day itself, and also to make those days free for yourself too. Based on last year's chalet experience, I'd better quote this once again before similar incidents like last year happened again.

As for the chalet, now that the date has been set, its everyone's initiative now to mark their calendar and start saving up slowly as well as making those days free for themselves now. It's a really long way to go before july, so its impossible to say that the chalet is unaffordable and their day is packed with busy schedules (unless for some who are really working full time and their application for leave on those days were unsuccessful). Saving like around $0.50 - $1.00 a day is also possible to reach the amount for the chalet fees by then, so for those who are not working and still studying, that's the solution for you. See, anything is possible; it's whether they want to do it or not xDD

Re: July Chalet
Most likely going ba. Btw makio, can u confirm availability of the chalet 1st? Cuz i rmb it used to be fully booked even for dates that are months away.
Anyway, I think the list of those going and not going is pretty predictable so we can do a rough estimate.
Probably its gonna be like this:
Staying Over: Yuu, Sky, Makio, Gias, Aaron, Calvin, Kyon,
Coming for BBQ AT LEAST: Hayate, Adri, Dex, Me, Gray, Xiaohui, Simin, BLYX, YM, Yue
Like that is about 17 ppl alr.
People who might be convinced to come: Jenny, Pegakok, Fishster, Alex, Pikchu, Gepi
Say half get convinced, we have about 3 more ppl. Adds up to 20 just nice.
I think I've also accidentally left out some people.
This is just a rough estimate, based on frequency of past gatherings' attendance.

Re: July Chalet
Currently, 5 out of 10 Garden Terrace chalets are available for booking between 2nd - 4th July, the other 5 were probably booked by those going to Cosfest too... or could be other civil servants as well. Thus, it's urgent if everybody can decide up till let's say latest this 30th? The sooner the better tho' XDD Please help relay the message to those who seldom come online too~
But which dates shall we pick? I'm going to list a few options, and take note that Cosfest falls on 3rd and 4th of July, which is a weekend.
- 2nd and 3rd July(book out on the 4th in the morning, so have to find an alternate place to dump our stuffs at Cosfest)
- 3rd and 4th July (book in at 3pm, which half a day of Cosfest will be gone, and book out on the 5th in the morning... those who have school, go home early on the 4th? those working, take leave?)
- 2nd, 3rd and 4th of July (recommended, book out on the 5th in the morning... those who have school, go home early on the 4th? those working, take leave?)
btw why don't I see Kyon around anyway?

Can we make it preferably 3days for those who can make it either 2nd/3rd or 3rd/4th??
But i have to say i need to go back on sunday because i can't afford to take anymore leave since i'll be taking more than one months leave from end april to june.
@Zabor,
Gal, if none of the zabors are going to stay overnight, i'm not going to stay over night.. haha, and yeah, i hope junho can join us in the chalet too. xD
