TKDJ chalet

Hi EVERYONE!

The TKDJ chalet is confirmed and will be at Costa Sands Pasir Ris from 26th to 28th June. Anyone is welcome to join us, but please let me know how many days you will be coming because I need to prepare the food for the BBQ. Each person will have to pay $25. Thanks and hope to see everyone there. xD

As for me, because the chalet clashes with my faculty freshmen orientation camp, I can only turn up for one day at most, and even that depends on the camp schedule. If I turn up for only one day then do I pay half of the $25? Just curious...

Debbie, I think one factor which may be making people think twice is the relatively high cost. Granted that it is due to the small group size, but is it also because of the two BBQs? (At least I heard it's two.)

So if perhaps, just perhaps, you can have just one barbecue, or better still, none at all (ie, you pay for your own food), then perhaps the cost can be reduced, and more people might wanna come? (But of course if you've already ordered catering for BBQ or what then no choice I guess.)

Hmm why is everyone so unsporting by going for only one day? Can't everyone just try their best to make themselves free this weekend. It's not like as if this whole plan was last minute, rather it was about 3 or 4 months ago. And its not like we get to have gatherings like this one very often.

I need to see how first... I can probably stay overnight until Sunday which I am planning to do so when I see my schedule tomorrow.

I have a lot of committee elections going on at school which I am involved in so I got no choice.

On Sunday after we book out, we can go Iluma LAN for those who want to see the lucky draw.

the current cost is planned for a one day bbq only. the reason why its so high is because the chalet room itself is already $240 because its during super peak period. that's already 10 persons' cost.

the food itself, i'm putting the cost at about 200 and setting aside another abt $50 or so for miscellanous cost. I'm setting the entire budget at $500, with, hopefully, leftover money. But i need more people to go, and to confirm with me WHEN they are going.

i'm trying to source for cheaper alternatives like wholesale catering and such; I give u guys my best estimate and i also will try to spend as little money as possible, but please try to understand that i also don't really know how much it will all add up to.

Please try to make it on saturday night as much as possible cuz that's when the BBQ is. 1st night, we'll try to c how; maybe have a potluck (as in everyone bring some food) or just order pizza dlv or sth ($20 for 2 pizzas).

Last but not least, I know $25 per person sounds a little high, but for 3 days 2 nights, i honestly think its acceptable lah. I leave it entirely up to ur choice whether u wan to come for the full thing or just partial. No one will be turned away, so as much as possible, just come and enjoy urself. ^^

I believe there is an option for catering. Not sure how much it will cost, but I think it could amount to less cost. From my past experiences with organizing chalets, if you get food for BBQ or catering, order less than the attendance - i.e., if ten people going, order for maybe seven or eight. This is to minimize the wastage (which I have seen at every BBQ I attended) and indirectly the costs involved.

Oh and from what I've seen so far, it's next to impossible to recover the costs, so you have to be prepared for a loss margin. Normally I see a deficit of $50 (if you're lucky) to around...$120 or so? The point of my stating all these is so that everyone can realize that it takes a lot for someone to volunteer to organize a chalet and all that, so please do help out and show your support, even if it's for a day.

Potluck for the first day is a splendid idea. I support it!

I only have one thing to say.

If you're unwell or has come into close contact (near to 2m) with suspected H1N1 patients within the last 7 days, please refrain from coming. Even if you want to come, tell us in advance, and please wear a face mask or similar.

And practice good hygiene when at the chalet.

I personally agree with this. Like c'mon, this whole chalet event was planned ages ago, and yet people can still say that they are busy and broke, when they were actually given ample time to save up and make themselves free this weekend. Still this cannot be done. How would planning future events and gatherings like this one be successful if nobody even take initiative to try and support the main organizer by at least attending it. This whole chalet was done with careful planning according to estimated number of people who will turn up. And I'm really disappointed to hear the response from the majority here like [size=24]"oh can't make it, no money" [/size] or maybe "can come for one day only" or "very busy, so depends" all these stuffs.....

haha this is the last time i'm gonna do this. i'm even resorting to asking some of my zone x frens to come and now its turning into a zone x chalet rather than TKDJ chalet. super sian 1/2 sia.
